What Do I Need to Make Korean Style Beef Bowls?
While the full recipe instructions are available below, here are some tips to think of while gathering your ingredients. This is an incredibly easy meal to prepare, so you shouldn't have a hard time collecting everything you need!
Rice: I generally prefer to use brown basmati rice, but it does take longer to cook than other types of rice. You can use white rice to save time if you prefer!
Beef: To keep this meal as healthy as possible, I use extra lean ground beef. I find this recipe has so much flavor in it that you don't miss any of the fat from heavier ground beef! You will sauté your beef with onion and garlic, which will add lots of flavor as well.
Sauce: This is what gives your meal all of its flavor! For this sauce, you will need sesame oil, brown sugar, soy sauce, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes. Mix the sauce together until the sugar is dissolved. Add it to your meat once it is almost fully cooked. You do not want to cook your sauce for too long. This is important, because sesame oil will lose much of its amazing flavor if it is cooked for too long.
Cucumber: Adding sliced cucumber to your bowl will help to keep this meal tasting light. This is important, because it balances out the heavy flavors of the beef and sauce.
Toppings: The best toppings to add to your bowls includes sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and a drizzle of sriracha. This is important, because the toppings pull this whole meal together and made it extra tasty!
