South African Yellow Rice
South African yellow rice is the perfect dish to accompany bobotie. It is quick and easy to make, and adds the best flavor to your meal!
Ingredients
- 1 cup white basmati rice
- 1 tbsp salted butter
- 2 tsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- 2 tbsp sultanas
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 + 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into a medium saucepan and heat until boiling and the butter has melted.
- Stir, cover, and simmer for approximately 6 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit, covered, for 5 to 10 minutes. Fluff up and serve in a warm bowl.
