Easy Hibachi Style Shrimp

I love going to a hibachi restaurant and ordering hibachi steak and fried rice. When I want all the deliciousness and not the calories, I make this easy hibachi style shrimp! It is bursting with flavor and has almost no cooking time.

Ingredients

For the Hibachi Shrimp:

  • 1 lb shrimp
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 cup red bell pepper, diced (approx. 1 medium)
  • 1 cup snap peas, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, diced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

For the Yum Yum Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup of half fat mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sriracha sauce
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika

Instructions

For the Hibachi Shrimp:

  1. Heat your skillet over medium high heat for a couple of minutes, until the pan is very hot. While you wait for the pan to heat, dab the shrimp dry. Once the pan is sufficiently hot, add the sesame oil and shrimp to the pan. Do not stir it. Let the shrimp get slightly charred before stirring. The shrimp will cook quickly - approximately 2 to 3 minutes. Once cooked through, remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.
  2. Add the pepper, peas, and garlic to the hot pan. Let it start to char. Once the veggies start to soften - in approximately 3 to 5 minutes - add the soy sauce to deglaze the pan. Stir up the browned bits on the bottom to add flavor. Once the soy sauce starts to thicken, add the shrimp back to heat it through. Remove from heat and serve over rice with green onions, sesame seeds, and your favorite sauce!

For the Yum Yum Sauce:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together all the ingredients until well combined. Enjoy!
