Fun and Festive Holiday Mules

No holiday dinner is complete without a festive cocktail! I love serving these fun and festive holiday mules for my family this time of year!

Fun and Festive Holiday Mules

I love to serve a festive cocktail before holiday meals.  Although this Christmas dinner will be much smaller this year, I will still be making a festive drink to cheers before our meal!  Moscow mules are one of my favorite cocktails to serve for company.  They are simple to make and are universally loved!

I put a festive spin on this holiday mule by adding pomegranate juice.  I also added some festive garnishes, such as rosemary sprigs and fresh cranberries.   Adding garnishes to your cocktails always dresses them up and makes them feel more fancy.  Get creative with what you have on hand to create some fun garnishes for your cocktails!

How to Make the Most Fun and Festive Holiday Mules

While the full recipe instructions are available below, here are some tips to have the most fun with your holiday mules!

  • Pomegranate Juice: while you can squeeze your own pomegranate juice, I recommend buying pre-squeezed juice for this ingredient.  I know that this is contrary to what I normally recommend when making cocktails.  Pomegranate juice is the exception.  I tried to squeeze some myself and ended up spraying it everywhere.  This juice is also very pigmented and difficult to get out of clothes!  So for this one ingredient, I recommend you buy the juice rather than the pomegranate itself.
  • Vodka: I used a standard Absolut vodka for this recipe.  Your choice of vodka does not have to be fancy, since we are mixing it with other ingredients!
  • Ginger Beer: in my opinion, ginger beer must have a bite and spice to it, or it's not worth adding to your cocktails.  I recommend using the Great Jamaican Ginger Beer brand.  It has the perfect bite and spice to it!  If you are not a fan of spicy ginger beer, I recommend researching a milder brand to use.
  • Lime Juice: unlike my recommendation for the pomegranate juice in this cocktail, I recommend squeezing your own lime juice!  This adds so much more flavor to your cocktail.  However, if you do not have access to fresh limes, using pre-squeezed lime juice will work.  In this case, I recommend using ReaLime.
  • Garnishes: get creative with this step!  I used rosemary sprigs and fresh cranberries.  If you have a whole pomegranate on hand, add some pomegranate seeds.  You can also use any other fresh herb of your choice - a sprig of fresh thyme would work great!
